In 2017, we received a grant from the Petco Foundation. Thanks to their support, we began two new Lifesaving Programs, the Community Cat program and the Wellness Vaccination Vouchers. We also purchased microchips through the grant to help reduce stray animal reclamation costs.
The Community Cat program provides free TNR surgeries for free roaming and feral cats in our community. This surgery includes alteration, microchips, a rabies vaccination, and flea treatment. This has been lifechanging for our shelter! In the past we had no alternative besides euthanasia for these cats. Now we are thrilled that they can live successfully in our community without increasing the cat population and reducing unwanted sexual behaviors.
Wellness Vaccination Vouchers have been instituted to help keep pets healthy and in their homes. With the support of four local veterinary clinics, we are helping qualifying pet owners ensure their pets are vaccinated and healthy. Participating clinics are Hillside Animal Clinic, Ridgeview Animal Clinic, Animal Hospital of Lanesville, and Edwardsville Animal Clinic.
